Streamlining Family Mealtime: A Practical Guide to Meal Prepping

I have never considered myself a meal prepper, but after deciding to cook more frequently and enjoy sit-down meals with my family, I realized my habit of crafting last-minute meal ideas and making daily trips to the grocery store was not sustainable or forgiving on the budget.

In my quest for solutions, I turned to the internet for guidance on meal prepping and concluded that I needed to invest more effort into planning recipes and managing leftovers effectively. While I'm aware that there are various apps available for this purpose, I prefer a more traditional approach and enjoy writing things down. I discovered a meal planner with detachable grocery shopping lists, which I find incredibly helpful and has truly transformed my cooking routine. I’ll link that here!
It’s vital to take leftovers into account. Preparing three to four dinners per week seems to work best for our family. My schedule is structured as follows: - Sunday: Select 3-4 recipes, compile my shopping list, and visit the grocery store for the week. - Monday: Prepare Recipe 1. - Tuesday: Enjoy leftovers. - Wednesday: Prepare Recipe 2. - Thursday: Prepare Recipe 3 (or enjoy leftovers). - Friday: Order takeout. - Saturday: Feast on leftovers. - Sunday: Prepare Recipe 4; we almost always make macaroni and meatballs on Sundays. This schedule may fluctuate based on the quantity of leftovers available and what we pack for lunch, among other factors. However, it serves as an excellent foundation if you’re looking to establish a consistent routine for your family. I know it!
