Embracing Juicing: How to Get Started
![]() |
Juicing has always intrigued me. I often heard about its incredible benefits, and it became something I was eager to explore. However, before diving in, I had quite a few questions: Which juices are most beneficial? Which contain excessive sugar? What type of juicer should I invest in? If you share these questions, I hope to answer them for you!
The Benefits of Juicing
Juicing offers a multitude of health benefits, but it’s essential to recognize that your ingredient combinations play a significant role in determining the overall healthfulness. For example, relying too heavily on sugary fruits may negate some of the advantages compared to using, say, fresh celery.
Drinking fresh juice provides an effortless way to obtain a rich array of vitamins and minerals without the need to cut up and consume a pile of fruits. An intriguing article from WebMD notes, “limited research shows that drinking pure fruit and vegetable juice can lead to increased nitric oxide levels in the blood.” This resource dives deep into the benefits of juicing and offers crucial insights into what to be mindful of, including comparisons between juicing and blending.
My Juicing Journey
My passion for juicing truly blossomed when I was pregnant with my third child. Initially, the process felt a bit overwhelming—purchasing a juicer and sourcing all the necessary fruits and vegetables raised concerns about budgeting. However, I quickly realized that the health benefits far outweighed any initial apprehensions. Plus, I primarily shop at Aldi’s, which keeps costs considerably lower!
Juicer Recommendations
You don’t need a massive apparatus to get started. I discovered a compact juicer that is easy to store and a breeze to clean! If you’re interested, I’ll link it here.
A Favorite Juicing Recipe
I love to make this recipe in large batches, allowing me to enjoy it over a few days. Here’s the recipe for one serving:
- 2 Cucumbers
- 1 Apple
- 4 Stalks of Celery
- 1 Lemon, peeled
Before juicing, make sure to cut and soak all the ingredients in a bowl of cold water mixed with baking soda for at least five minutes. Rinse them thoroughly, and you’re ready to get juicing!
Resources for Juicing Enthusiasts To broaden my juicing horizons, I also picked up a couple of fantastic books. "Juicing for Beginners" is a must-have for anyone looking to get started, while "Juicing for Health" focuses on recipes designed to help with common health issues like eczema, constipation, colds, and allergies.
Juicing with Kids
One of the most delightful aspects of juicing is how much my children enjoy it! Even my picky eater has embraced the process. They love helping me select various items to juice, assisting in feeding them into the machine, and being my enthusiastic taste testers. This has turned out to be an exceptional strategy for sneaking more fruits and vegetables into their diets!
Incorporating juicing into our daily routine has not only enhanced my family’s health but has also fostered a shared enjoyment of wholesome, nutritious ingredients. If you’re contemplating starting your juicing journey, I highly encourage you to give it a try! Your body will thank you. I know it! Happy juicing!
